Leverage the Report Administrator Dashboard

Are you responsible for creating and monitoring reports in Workday? Then consider leveraging the Workday Provided Custom “Report Administrator” Dashboard.

The Report Administrator Dashboard will help monitor Workday report performance from one master Workday Custom Dashboard. If this dashboard was not set-up during the Workday implementation, don’t worry, it is easy to deploy this in production.

With proper Workday Security Access, navigate to Maintain Dashboards, find the Report Administrator dashboard, and click “Edit” to maintain the configuration. Edit the “Worklets” and “Menu” items on the Report Administrator Dashboard to fit the requirements.

Workday has provided the following series of reports that can be added to the Report Administrator Dashboard:
– Custom Reports Exception by Owner
– Custom Reports Not Run
– Recently Created and Modified Reports
– Recently Updated Calc Fields
– Scheduled Reports that will fail
– Slowest Reports Run in Background

These Workday-provided reports highlight key Report Administration areas that should be regularly monitored. A good example would be the “Custom Reports Not Run” report. This report can be periodically reviewed to identify custom reports that haven’t been used in the last 13+ months. These are reports that are potentially no longer needed by the organization.

You can also add Tasks to the Report Administrator Dashboard Menu for quick access. Some common Report Administrator tasks to consider:
– Create Custom Report
– Delete Custom Report
– Delete Temporary Report Definition
– Edit Custom Report
– Edit Report Performance Log Settings
– Hide Workday Delivered Report
– Process Monitor
– Schedule Report
– Transfer Ownership of Custom Reports
– View Report Performance Logs

Once you have configured the dashboard, click “Done.”

Now you are ready to give your new Report Administrator Dashboard a test drive by clicking the “Run” button.
